The technology sector had a great weight in the fair thanks to FITUR Know & How Export and hub are driving the transformation of tourism through technology and content developing companies.

SAID organized the 6th Edition of Fitur Know-How & Export and included an exclusive area of virtual reality, where users could have the experience of virtually traveling through national and international destinations.

The goal of this initiative was to show the potential of virtual reality for the tourism sector, since this technology allows to travel before the trip, to know in which hotel to stay, as well as know other places that can be seen on the destination.

Attendees were able to visit destinations such as Malaga, perform the Camino de Santiago, to know Marrakech, discover the Arctic circle in Norway, or plunge into the reality of Haiti.

It was also possible to fly over New York, visit the Roman amphitheatre in Cartagena, the giant pocket of Pulpi, Archena baths or the combat of Don Quixote and the windmills. Attendees at the fair have also been able to make a virtual exploratory trip to one of the jewels of the pre-Romanesque Asturian architecture.

For space "Travel with virtual reality" Segittur counted with the collaboration of various companies, which include IRALTA VR, Estudio Future, Raíz Media, Hop180, Good herb y 7seven Fun.

In addition to the virtual reality space, the public was able to attend a creative workshop in which César Urbina, creative director at Iralta VR and Paolo Piva, Managing director of Hop 180 shared their experience in this sector in a talk titled : "10 Tips for effective use of virtual reality in tourism – Keys to build relevant content”. (The summary of this workshop will be published soon)

In addition to the virtual reality space organized by SEGITTUR, people could enjoy VR experiences in the rest of the fair like at the Navarre stand where the public could travel the Camino de Santiago thanks to the Camino360 Appan App that two years ago received the FITUR and SEGITTUR Best Destination Guide App Award for its use of virtual reality and that remains a pioneer for the use of the VR and interactivity.

Another project that the public could enjoy at the fair was Marrakech 360 produced by the national Office of Tourism of Morocco and that we have carried out together with Netberry Solutions.

Also at the Pullmantur booth visitors were able to discover their cruises in waters of Norway or Italy with the experiences that we've filmed next to New Horizons.

We have been attending FITUR for five years, showing ideas, virtual reality and 360 video projects, and this year has been special for virtual reality. Being supported by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and SEGITTUR and accompanied by the best VR companies in Spain, having produced VR contents for three booths, and the many interviews and meetings that we carried out in these three days, made us believe in the promising future of virtual reality and tourism.
